We all know that major life events are usually posted on social media within minutes of them happening! While there aren’t any official rules on how to make these announcements, a lot of us feel compelled to share the news on our social networks (especially something as big as an engagement!). Make sure to let all of your loved ones know the old-fashioned way first. Then, it’s time to decide how to share!
Ring Selfie
This option offers you the chance to be very short and sweet with your caption. You can post the date, an emoji, whatever you want really. I think that this is an option for those of you that either want to keep it super simple and let the picture do the talking, or those that (like me) aren’t great with coming up with the perfect caption. It doesn’t get any easier than this, and allows you to post quickly and get back to celebrating with your fiance! Pretty self explanatory 🙂
my personal favorite… this was my social media announcement photo 🙂
Together in an Embrace
This is always a cute one. You and your fiancé can be hugging or holding each other, while subtly sneaking your left hand into the photo. The caption for this one should be a little longer and more descriptive (if people are scrolling through their feeds quickly, they not see your new diamond accessory and just assume it’s a couple photo!). This is a good choice because your friends and loved ones get to see those “newly-engaged smiles”, and who doesn’t love seeing people so happy? Getting to show your friends and loved ones the emotion around this big milestone while still keeping the exact moment private is a good balance between letting people in and still keeping something just for you two.
The Proposal
These are growing ever more popular! These days with a lot of people choosing to get their proposal photographed, you have the wonderful option to share the actual moment it happened. These are great for showing your joy and emotion, and your friends can feel that they were part of the experience, too! A great choice for those of you that want to show off your amazing proposal! A lot of us are lucky enough to have had an amazing proposal experience planned out for us, and there’s nothing better than sharing that with your friends. These photos are always a good idea to have anyway, just so you both can always remember the moment you said yes.
The ‘No Caption Needed’
Come up with a creative way to announce your engagement through photos. Make it so obvious that it needs no explanation! These coffee cups are a cute one. This is a fun way to include your fiance in the post creation, and coming up with something like this is a good way to spend an hour or so. I always have such respect for the “no caption needed” posts, they’re usually so witty and perfect. Plus they’re super fun to look back on in a few years 🙂
“The way Rachel and Victoria took care of me when looking for a special engagement ring that wasn’t something picked off the shelf was amazing. They really know how to translate what’s in your mind into an actual ring that can be put on your finger!”
